Leading Taiwanese AI company, Appier, has acquired Indian marketing startup QGraph for an undisclosed sum, in part to boost its presence in India.
The Bangalore-based startup, now renamed AIQUA, is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Appier, which has branches in 14 cities across the world and has been operating in India for the past two-and-a-half years.
Executives at the six-year-old 300-strong Taiwanese company say the Indian startup, which develops marketing automation platforms for mobile devices, can bring expertise that will add to Appier’s existing products line.
The former QGraph team will work in Appier’s Taipei headquarters on an automated content marketing platform powered by AI that can be used all over the world.
"The new marketing automation platform will offer even more comprehensive services and broaden the firm's customer base," said Yu Chih-han, Appier’s CEO.
QGraph, which was founded three years ago, specializes in building products around mobile technology and marketing technology.
It created a marketing automation platform in India that lets marketers send highly personalized content, messages and promotional information to customers across digital channels in the form of notifications, emails and text messages. Some of its clients include Zee5, Paktor and India's largest fashion jewelry retailer Voylla.
Executives at Appier, which specializes in helping companies improve online marketing with the use of AI, say companies often miss sales and marketing opportunities because their customers may use different mobile and computer devices when accessing various online shopping sites.
This causes them to be identified as different users on each site. The companies' marketing teams therefore don't fully understand how keen their customers may be on their products or how many times they buy them.
The firm’s executives said the launch of AIQUA aims to address these critical cross-screen digital marketing problems. Appier executives hope to help client companies harness the power of AI to further understand and segment their audience, as well as engage with their customers across online and digital channels.
"During our interactions with our many clients around the region, it became clear to us that there's immense room for improvement when it comes to engagement and personalization," said Yu.
"We're excited to introduce a solution that addresses these gaps by drawing on the power of AI.”
Adding to Appier’s two AI-powered marketing tools - CrossX and Aixon- the firm’s AIQUA platform allows marketing executives at client companies to engage and retain customers using AI models and data analytics.
It helps advertisers and marketing specialists understand the behavior and interests of customers outside of online channels they control. Then, the customers’ external digital footprints can be combined with their own customer data.
The company said that AIQUA also offers a variety of personalized message templates that marketers can use to reach their target audience.
AIQUA’s creative content includes push notifications –messages that pop up on a mobile device or web page –along with emails, text messages and messaging platforms.
Yu said Appier has provided services to more than 1,000 brands and agents, such as Nike, Disney, Ford and Starbucks, utilizing AI to help them accelerate digital transmissions and commercial automation.
