Taiwan-based AI consultancy CloudMile has announced a partnership with U.S-based search engine firm Elastic to provide business analysis services utilizing big data for Taiwanese and Southeast Asian companies.
“As an Elastic strategic partner, we are looking to develop various applications for our Asian clients,” said CloudMile’s founder and CEO, Spencer Liu, at a press conference, adding that his company focused on financial, e-business and manufacturing sectors.
“With CloudMile’s technical expertise and business insights, we expect to contribute to each other’s growth in the competitive Southeast Asian market.”
Elastic, whose clients include Netflix, Airbus, eBay, Grab and Citigroup, was drawn to Taiwan’s burgeoning market and its geographical location close to neighboring Asian countries, said Joen van Driel, Elastic’s vice president for sales in the Asia Pacific region.
“We chose CloudMile as a partner due to their solid technology expertise as well as their skilled staff, to assist us as we go to market in Southeast Asia, said Pankaj Khushani, who manages Asia-Pacific partnerships for Elastic.
One of the main purposes of the partnership is to take Elastic’s product, the Elastic Stack, a highly sophisticated search engine to Southeast Asian markets.
Elastic Stack is a group of open source products designed to help users take data from any type of source and in any format and then search, analyze and visualize the data.
In addition, the company has developed an open-source search engine known as Elasticsearch and Elastic Cloud, which is widely used for searches and analytics according to Elastic staff.
Elastic, founded in 2012, has seen its products downloaded over 350 million times, according to the company, with more than 5,500 subscription customers. It has also developed an online community of more than 100,000 members in over 100 countries.
Meanwhile CLoudMile has just drummed up US$2.6 million in its latest funding drive. Besides specializing in AI, CloudMile, founded in 2017 in Taipei, makes use of deep learning and big data analysis to assist clients with business predictions. It also offers consultancy services relating to cloud computing management and solutions.
Speakers at the press conference included Jill Shih, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange, COBINHOOD and Kevin Huang, the co-founder of CHOCO TV, a well-known OTT company in Taiwan.
The partnership “is a milestone in the expansion of data analytics and the search market in Southeast Asia,” a Chinese language statement from CloudMile said.
