RelaJet was co-founded with two brothers in Taiwan, Blue Chen and Jack Chen. As a hearing aid user, Blue Chen gathers his observation of hearing aid user experiences and his proven engineering knowledge to build Otoadd, a product with innovative AI technology to enhance the audio quality and overall product practicality.
While hearing aid device is being available over-the-counter (OTC) in the United States in 2021, RelaJet carries a positive outlook to expand their market and to provide those who are suffering from mild to moderate hearing impaired with advanced hearing aid instrument.
RelaJet observes the limits of current hearing aid products on the market. For traditional hearing aid products, they take the simple way of amplifying all sources of sounds in the environment, including background noises and other unnecessary distractions. With the overall amplified noise, the wearer can neither differentiate multiple voices nor to locate the direction of the sound, which could put the user under dangerous circumstances.
On top of the audio quality, the battery life and price point makes the overall experience frustrated. RelaJet is bringing their newly launched product: Otoadd to the game. Otoadd is built with innovative AI technology, RelaJet Speech Enhancement Engine with 16 hours of battery life at a competitive price of $1,000 to $1,500 per set. This innovative product is selected by Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) as one of the 100 featured Taiwanese startups to showcase at CES 2021.
RelaJet implements innovative software engineering with AI technology to identify and separate different speakers’ voices through one microphone carried with Edge Computing processors. Through RelaJet Speech Enhancement Engine, the background noises are identified and significantly denoised from the output, hence the user is able to listen to separated voices clearly. Working together with Qualcomm QCC 5141 and Microsoft Azure, the two devices are connected by FOTA updates to achieve Otoadd’s significant capability. Qualcomm QCC 5141 is able to perform AI speech enhancement, hearing amplification, play music and phone calls, with 16 hours of battery life. While Microsoft Azure can assist in operating both iOS and Android for hearing tests, remote calibration, and model updates. RelaJet’s Otoadd is here to deliver a better hearing experience, and benefits the quality of life for the hearing impaired.
RelaJet is currently distributing its products in Asia and is positively looking forward to expanding its market to all continents, particularly in the US. RelaJet follows closely with the progress of the FDA regulations, including the OTC Hearing Aid Act. The act is designed to provide greater public accessibility and affordability with OTC hearing aids.
Therefore, RelaJet is looking at an enormous market of over 104 million sets of assistive wearables, and $40 billion in revenue annually. The potential users can be categorized into four levels: normal, mild (375 million people), moderate (100 million people) and severe (25 million people). RelaJet’s Otoadd is aiming the audiences with mild and moderate hearing impairments, who are most likely looking for inexpensive treatment at the OTC marketplace, rather than prescripted devices that could cost from $2,000 to $10,000 per set.
RelaJet’s innovation had caught the eyes of world-class companies. Aside from the current program with TTA, RelaJet was also chosen as the winner by Qualcomm at 2019 QITC with their partnership product, QCC 5141. Moreover, their close relationship with Microsoft Azure brings a positive effect on cloud system construction and global CSR marketing scheme. RelaJet and their ODM Partners are working in the process to reach the stage of mass production, where they are working on the medical grade production line(ISO13485), product manufacturing, and the connection to global clients.
RelaJet believes in “More Hearing, More Future.” By leveraging Blue Chen’s personal experience and knowledge of hearing aid products, along with Jack Chen’s expertise in investment law, RelaJet is ready to “Help the World Hear Better.”
