JingleTek introduces STRIKE, the world’s first smart baseball that is capable of providing coaches and athletes quantifiable data to analyze variables such as spin rate, rotational axis, velocity, trajectory, pop-time, and location.
This next-generation product earned JingleTek selection by Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) as one of the 100 featured Taiwanese startups showcased at CES 2021.
“With multiple precision sensors built in, STRIKE provides athletes with the quantifiable data necessary to fully analyze training performance,” said JingleTek Founder and CEO Ching Lun Lin.
STRIKE first made its debut in the market by securing funding from different crowdfunding platforms including Kickstarter (US) and Makuake (Japan). JingleTek has since fulfilled all of the orders from these platforms.
“We are now moving to mass production, and we hope STRIKE 2.0 can support every coach with data that have been difficult to measure previously as well as help each player record his real-time performance,” Lin said.
He said baseball is moving into the sports science area, with science-based training becoming more important. If you think Strike can add value to your training course, I would love to discuss it with you in further detail.
Ball speed is one of the most important indicators for a pitcher. Many pitchers track their career high speed records. In fact, professional league scouts also attach great importance to pitchers’ pitch speeds.
In addition to the pitch speed, MLB has also begun to pay attention to spin rate stats in recent years. For example, the ball’s spin rate will affect the degree of air resistance (magnus force) applied to the ball and ball movement while on its way to the strike zone. In this way, a good pitcher should be able to do more than just throw a high-speed fastball. The ability to control the phases of spin rate of each pitch is also very important for pitchers.
Pitch types and pitch movements are the most sophisticated techniques in baseball. STRIKE, the world’s first smart baseball, captures all the tiny measurements observable to the naked eye using multiple precision sensors and helps pitchers optimize training results.
STRIKE 1.0 has already collected information on more than 10,000 pitchers with more than 280,000 pitch data entries collected. In order to best serve the entire baseball team and other positions, STRIKE 2.0 provides new features, including pop-time for catchers, the STRIKE report system, and slow-motion video provided for coaches, scouts, and physical therapists. STRIKE 2.0 will serve not only pitchers but also the entire defensive team. JingleTek believes that baseball data will be more comprehensive and be used more efficiently in the future.
JingleTek suggests that balls may be used in different training scenarios. For pitchers, they can focus on speed, spin rate, rotation axis, trajectory, pitching time, exchange time, and posture film with a marker. For catchers and infielders, they can check out the spin rate, pop-time, exchange time, and the posture film with a marker.
The STRIKE baseball meets U.S. Official Baseball Rules requirements, features wireless charging, has dedicated apps on both iOS and Android, and is capable of measuring spins up to 4000 rpm.
