Gogolook announced that it has applied to be listed on the Taiwan Innovation Board (TIB) of the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE). The software’s main service, whoscall, range covers markets such as Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Brazil, and Malaysia, with over 100 million total downloads globally for its caller identification App Whoscall. It also maintains East and Southeast Asia’s largest phone number database.
Raising funds in Taiwan’s capital market through the TIB will help Gogolook expand its overseas markets and increase R&D investments to accelerate growth.
“Build software in Taiwan, do business all over the world,” Jeff Kuo, the co-founder of Gogolook once said in an interview.
Jackie Cheng, co-founder and chairman of Gogolook, stated, “Gogolook started in Taiwan and our services revolve around the lives of each of our Taiwanese users. Since it was established, Gogolook has continued to receive support and affirmation from domestic customers, the government, and investors. Thus, we believe that listing in Taiwan will give us an excellent home field advantage and allow us to gather resources to turn to the international market so that we may continue to export Taiwanese soft power and anti-fraud technology to the rest of the world.”
The TWSE expressed that Gogolook is a rare new economy software company from Taiwan that has successfully expanded into overseas markets. It is hoped that with the power of the capital market, Gogolook will continue to grow, eventually becoming a world-class business in the near future. The TIB mainly promotes listing for new economy companies with key core technologies, innovation capabilities, or innovative business models. After Gogolook, the board is optimistic that more local start-ups and new economy companies will join and gradually form industry clusters.
In addition to the entrepreneurial team and employees, Gogolook’s main shareholders include the Cathay Private Equity Fund, WIN Semiconductors Corp., Trinity Investment, the Institute for Information Industry, and the Digital Economy Fund under the Industrial Technology Research Institute.
Established in 2012, Gogolook aims to create an AI- and data-driven global anti-fraud network as well as Risk Management as a Service.
Gogolook has also teamed up with a number of institutes such as the Taiwan National Police Agency Criminal Investigation Bureau, the Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea, Thai Police Cyber Taskforce, the Fukuoka city government, and the Malaysia police and Selangor state government to fight fraud and ultimately, to build a trustworthy communication network with the largest database in East Asia and Southeast Asia.
“Overseas, Gogolook cooperates with strategic partners to build its brand and word-of-mouth through the advantages of data, accelerating international marketing while accumulating users to build a data moat. At the same time, we continue to develop network applications required by businesses, such as fraud prevention and risk management, credit risk management, and crime risk management, to create a stable and diversified revenue source,” said Kuo.
