LINE Corporation, a pioneer in the field of digital communication, is thrilled to announce a significant transformation in its mobility services with the rebranding of LINE Taxi to "LINE Go" with Yulon Motor Corporation. The automaker giant just acquired LINE Go, setting a goal of connecting its car markets and resources to leading MaaS (mobility as a service) provider LINE Go.
Since Oct 2nd, LINE Taxi was renamed LINE Go, introducing a fresh and enhanced platform that offers an array of innovative Mobility as a Service (MaaS) options, not only ride-hailing. The new platform aim to cater to diverse transportation needs, adding more options like car renting and airport pick-ups to suit passenger preferences.

LINE has evolved from a simple communication app into a diverse service platform, all with the aim of providing our users with the most thoughtful services, according to Chen.
Kuo-hsing Hsu , President of Yulon Tobe Motor Co, added, "The launch of the LINE Go service platform marks a significant milestone for the Yulon Group as we venture into the realm of SaaS.” This Mid-Autumn Festival holds special significance for the company, coinciding with Yulon's 70th anniversary celebration, according to Hsu.
In Yulon's birthplace Xindian district, Yulon City officially opened, signaling the progressive realization of Yulon Group venturing into retail and shopping malls. With the launch of the LINE Go platform, Yulon Group further push forward its visions of MaaS, promising to utilize its offline channels to boost the services.
“We plan to bring forth the new service every quarter, with the core values of convenience, entrust and ESG,” said Kevin Chen, CEO of LINE Go. Right after the rebranding, LINE Go launched two new services to its existing 3.6 million customers, including car rental service and airport pick-ups.
The car rental service, known as "Ziyouzhu," offers a wide selection of vehicles for short-term or long-term rentals. Users can conveniently book a car through the LINE Go app, and pick it up from over 600 locations across Taiwan. The service also offers AI-assisted driver's license verification, allowing users to complete the registration process in as fast as 20 seconds.
On the other hand, the airport pick-up service provides passengers with a comfortable and punctual journey to or from the airport. LINE Go has expanded its service coverage and diversified its vehicle options to include locations such as Taichung, Kaohsiung, and instant pick-up service in Taoyuan. Both the car rental and airport pick-up services are designed to offer users unprecedented convenience and flexibility, further solidifying LINE Go's commitment to shaping the future of mobility.
In terms of its original and popular service LINE Taxi, LINE Go has its upgradtion plan, too. The platform brings a host of new features, including a wider range of vehicle options including luxury, 6-seater, and accessible vehicles on top of vehicles friendly to babies and pets. The company also enables an innovative AI voice-activated booking system, allowing users to ride hailing without typing.
To further promote green mobility, LINE Taxi has expanded the electric vehicle fleet. The wider range of vehicle options provides users with more flexibility and choice, while the AI voice-activated booking system makes it easier and faster to request a ride. The expanded electric vehicle fleet is part of LINE Go's commitment to sustainability and contributes to a greener and more sustainable urban mobility landscape.
LINE Go stands as a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration, with a network of over 13,000 partner drivers, a membership base of 3.6 million users, and a 30 million completed rides. Its journey from a fledgling startup to a leading player in the mobility industry takes six years.
The story begins with the startup team known as "Taxi Go." With the vision of simplifying transportation through technology, Kevin Chan and Hayden Huang embarked on a mission to create a more efficient ride-hailing system. It was during this phase that they learned about the LINE PROTOSTAR program. Chan's swift application to the program opened doors to a world of possibilities. Leveraging LINE's APIs, the startup integrated LINE official accounts and LINE Pay with chatbot technology to create a no-frills ride-hailing service within the LINE app. The response was overwhelming, with over 500 drivers registering within just one week, keeping the founders busy verifying drivers at Starbucks.
As LINE continued to enrich its service ecosystem, Chan recognized the potential of building their service within the social app. Launching their service on LINE allowed LINE Go to tap into a vast user base, turning LINE Taiwan users into potential passengers and drivers. LINE Taxi didn’t stop at taxi service. Instead, they teamed up with major Taiwanese automaker Yulon to better uplevel their MaaS solutions.
