Right after CES, the 2024 Taiwan Startup TTA Roadshow, a pitching and matching event, emerges as a significant milestone in the journey of Taiwanese startups. Hosted in the dynamic landscape of Los Angeles, this event, organized by the Science and Technology Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, together with TTA and Meet Global, marks a pivotal moment for Taiwan's burgeoning tech industry.
Following the remarkable success of the TTA Tour to CES, where 100 Taiwanese startups showcased their cutting-edge solutions at the world's largest tech show, the excitement is palpable. Dr. Chia-Yuan Chen, director of the division, fostering technological ties between Taiwan and the international community, gives the opening remarks for the event: "Our mission is to bridge Taiwanese innovation with global opportunities."
The event has attracted renowned venture capitalists and accelerators such as Techstars, Mucker Capital, Morpheus Ventures, and Qubits Ventures to attend. The presence of corporations like Taboola adds another layer of opportunity, enabling these startups to explore potential collaborations and widen their horizons.
The 2024 Taiwan Startup TTA Roadshow finds its stage in the auditorium of the ArtCenter College of Design (ACCD), a venerable institution with a rich 100-year history in fostering creativity and innovation. The college counts many prominent figures among their alumni including fashion designer Calvin Klein and Disney Imagineer Mark Jason Page. The choice of ACCD as the venue is given its substantial Taiwanese connection – boasting 48 currently enrolled students and a network of over 100 Taipei alumni, including Imin Pao, founder of PPGROUP.
In the heart of the 2024 Taiwan Startup TTA Roadshow, over 30 Taiwanese startups are showcasing their innovations, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) standing out as a trending and dominant theme. Taiwanese startups are not just participating in the AI revolution; they are at the forefront, leading the charge with cutting-edge solutions and technologies.

AV Mapping, founded by Frinny Lee, a Draper University alumna with a background in geomatics, is redefining audio editing for video creators. Their AI-powered platform allows users to swiftly find the ideal music and sound effects for videos, streamlining the editing process. What sets AV Mapping apart is its unique profit-sharing model, which ensures fair earnings distribution between musicians and creators, fostering a sustainable creative ecosystem.
Asiabots, meanwhile, specializes in Artificial Intelligence, particularly in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Text-to-Speech (TTS) with natural human-like voices, and chatbot technology for mobile and phone communication. Their expertise in creating interactive, AI-driven communication solutions positions them as a front-runner in enhancing user experience across various digital platforms.
Highlighting the significance of AI in the current technological landscape, Jerry Heikens, the Executive Director of TiE SoCal Angels, remarks, "AI is not only revolutionizing industries but has also become a buzzword that companies eagerly want to associate with. For investors, the real key is discerning the genuine innovation from the hype.
This concentration of AI-centric startups at the TTA Roadshow underscores Taiwan's significant role in the global AI landscape. It's not just about the buzzword; it's about real, impactful solutions that these companies are bringing to the table. The Roadshow is more than a platform for showcasing innovations; it's a melting pot of ideas, a place where technology meets practical application, and where the future of AI becomes a tangible reality.
In a compelling session hosted at the Taboola office, part of the Meet Global initiative designed to foster deeper communication and networking, Ning Ning Yu, a revered figure in Silicon Valley's startup scene, shares her insights.
