When artificial intelligence is being applied across industries, one question remains: who will bring it into the daily lives of new parents? This is the challenge that Wisdom Oasis AI set out to address.
“The parenting and pet industries are still quite traditional and closed,” Weston Wu said. “In many cases, the decision makers are from older generations and may not understand what young parents really need.”
Weston Wu, who comes from a background in hardware engineering, once worked in the innovation department of Maxi-Cosi, a European baby product group. There, he developed a connected stroller that generated millions in annual revenue. But working in a large corporation left him frustrated.
“You can have an idea and the data to support it, but it may take six levels of approval to make even a small change,” Weston Wu said. “That made me wonder why we should not build something on our own, where we could really control the technology.”
In 2025, he co-founded Wisdom Oasis AI in Taipei with Olivier Garreau, a former manager from Maxi-Cosi who specializes in marketing and brand design. Together, they combined years of experience in the baby care industry to create AI-powered solutions for baby and pet products.
Wisdom Oasis AI does not plan to release products directly under its own brand just yet. Instead, the company works as a technology provider, partnering with established baby and pet brands. The model is to develop prototypes that are nearly market-ready, then hand them to brands for local customization.
“We are not a factory,” Weston Wu said. “We are solution builders. We design prototypes based on market data and then work with brands to finalize them so that the products can reach the market quickly.”
One example came from a Japanese pet stroller company. At first, the brand showed little interest in AI. But Wisdom Oasis AI noticed that many of their users were older owners with senior dogs, who often suffered in the summer heat. The team developed a cooling and deodorizing stroller with automated temperature control and sensors. Market testing showed unexpectedly strong demand, and the brand later became a long-term partner.
“Our principle is that action is better than perfection. We build, we test, we learn, and we adjust. That way, we can move fast in the market,” Weston Wu said.
One of the company’s most recognized technologies is CryAssist, an AI-powered baby cry recognition system. By working with medical institutions and collecting more than 100,000 hours of baby crying samples, CryAssist can detect whether a baby is hungry, in pain, wet, or simply seeking attention. According to Weston Wu, the system has reached 95 percent accuracy and is now integrated into baby monitors that have shipped more than 200,000 units worldwide.
Wisdom Oasis AI has already signed partnerships with more than ten brands across the UK, the Netherlands, Japan, and Taiwan. Their solutions cover smart strollers, AI-enabled car seats, cooling mats, and more. The company is building a PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) model so that different products can share the same AI data and deliver a consistent experience for parents and pet owners.
“The way we work is B2B2C. Brands buy licenses from us and pay development fees. We provide SDKs, user interface design, and testing. Some advanced features are subscription-based, paid directly by consumers,” Weston Wu said.
Managing a global team is also part of their strategy. Research and development takes place in Taipei, supply chain operations are centered in Shenzhen, the design team is based in the Netherlands, and the French team leads marketing and brand strategy. This allows the company to support local partners and reduce geopolitical risks.
“European markets are more stable, but North America is more volatile,” Weston Wu said. “Brands also ask many questions about cybersecurity and where the products are made. We need systematic strategies to address those concerns.”
“Most people are moving toward semiconductors or AI large models,” Weston Wu said. “It is difficult to find people who can work across hardware, software, design, and cybersecurity. That is why we rely more on international teams working remotely.”
Looking ahead, Wisdom Oasis AI has drawn a clear roadmap. Upcoming projects include an AI milk preparation machine, smart baby cribs, interactive toys, monitoring systems using millimeter-wave sensors, and even products designed to support parents with postpartum depression. For pets, the company is working on more precise feeding devices and outdoor accessories.
