Czech startup Supernova, founded by Jiří Třečák, has raised $9.2 million in Series A funding to support the launch of Portal, its AI-enabled product development platform. The round was led by Taiwania Capital, with participation from J&T Ventures, Reflex Capital, Kaya VC, Credo Ventures, EQT Ventures, Wing VC, and Y Combinator.
Supernova started in 2018 as a tool focused on easing design-to-code handoffs. After participating in Y Combinator in 2019, the team reassessed its approach. As Třečák explained in the company’s blog, they realized that “speeding up one step wasn’t enough to deliver true value,” because “teams needed all their data — design, code, and product details — in one place for this to truly come together.”
This insight led Supernova to evolve its product into a more comprehensive platform that unifies design systems, codebases, and documentation. Today, companies such as Mozilla, Paramount, and Skyscanner rely on Supernova to help maintain alignment and reduce manual overhead in their product development cycles.
Portal, the company’s new product, introduces what Supernova calls “vibe-coding.” Unlike tools that stop at prototyping, Portal aims to support the entire product lifecycle while staying compatible with existing workflows. It integrates with Figma, GitHub, VSCode, and other industry tools.
Třečák described his own experience using Portal as a “sort of ‘wtf?!’ moment,” recalling how he “just outlined a concept that I had in mind, had AI refine it in real time, generate a prototype, provide all specifications for my developers, and write proper tickets that break it down (or I could just give them the resulting code but hey, that’d be cheating, right?).” He noted that the tool “never broke my workflow, didn’t deviate from my brand or hallucinate something I would not do myself.”
His goal for Portal, as shared in Tech.eu, is to give “individuals the power to ship like an entire team,” while also enabling “full teams to move 10x faster.”
David Weng, CEO of Taiwania Capital, cited the strength of Supernova’s infrastructure as a key reason for leading the round. “Their architecture unifies design systems and code, enabling an AI-powered platform that goes beyond prototyping,” he said, adding that the investment “also creates opportunities for Supernova in Asian markets.”
Supernova now has more than 400 customers worldwide, with more than half of them in the enterprise segment. With its new funding, the company plans to expand in the U.S. and Asia, grow its product and engineering teams, and scale operations from its base in Prague.
Třečák, reflecting on this moment, wrote, “How we build products is changing before our eyes, and we will push even harder to lead it unfold.”
Tomáš Obrtáč, General Partner at Kaya VC, sees Supernova’s role in the industry as similar to another design tool’s rise. “Supernova is doing for product development what Figma did for design,” he said, calling it “a single place to collaborate and move fast.”
