Graid Technology, an innovative hardware and software integration startup, has raised $30 million USD in Series B funding (approximately 900 million TWD) to support the global expansion of its GPU-based RAID solution, SupremeRAID™.
This round was led by HH-CTBC Partnership, a joint venture fund between Foxconn and CTBC Bank, with participation from Yuanta Venture Capital, Delta Electronics Capital, Harbinger Venture Capital, and Series A investors.
The new funding will be used primarily to expand the company's global market reach, accelerate product research and innovation, and establish broader strategic partnerships.
Graid Technology plans to go public in Taiwan this year, with this Series B round being the final fundraising round before its IPO, following a $15 million (around 450 million TWD) Series A round in 2022.
In high-demand applications like gaming, video editing, and AI research, data storage speed is crucial.
When data needs to be accessed frequently, traditional hard drives can cause delays, slowing down performance.
RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) cards manage how data is read and written to hard drives, but traditional RAID solutions require CPU resources to process these tasks.
This can lead to slower performance and create bottlenecks, especially in the age of fast NVMe SSDs.
SupremeRAID™ is a software-defined RAID solution that uses GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) to handle RAID-related tasks instead of the CPU.
This offloads the processing work from the CPU, enhancing data processing speed and overall performance. With this approach, SupremeRAID™ helps to unlock the full potential of NVMe SSDs, ensuring that fast storage devices can perform at their best without being limited by traditional RAID cards.
One of the key advantages of SupremeRAID™ is that it doesn't require cables to connect the hard drives, which simplifies system scaling and management. It's also suitable for a wide range of high-performance applications, from data centers to media production and financial institutions.
Currently, SupremeRAID™ is being used in data centers, AI research institutions, media companies, and financial organizations worldwide.
“This funding round is an important milestone, not only expanding our market presence but also driving innovation,” said Graid Technology founder and CEO, Leander Yu. “The support from HH-CTBC Partnership, Yuanta Venture Capital, and other strategic investors reflects their confidence in our vision. With their backing, we’re positioned to expand our technology and enter new markets.”
