CesiumAstro, a major player in next-generation space and defense communications, has closed a $470 million Series C round to boost manufacturing and accelerate deployment of its AI-powered connectivity solutions. The investment will fund a new 270,000-square-foot headquarters in Texas, expand manufacturing, and grow technical teams to meet rising demand in both government and commercial markets.
The round includes $270 million in equity led by Trousdale Ventures and joined by a global roster of investors, notably MESH, a prominent venture capital firm from Taiwan. Other participants include Woven Capital (Toyota’s venture arm), Janus Henderson Investors, Airbus Ventures, the Development Bank of Japan, EDBI, NewSpace Capital, and more. The funding is complemented by a $200 million financing package led by the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) and J.P. Morgan.
MESH is known for supporting innovative startups in deep tech and has been instrumental in advancing the Taiwanese space and satellite ecosystem. With investments spanning semiconductor, AI, and space technology, MESH plays an active role in connecting Taiwanese talent and solutions with the global market.
By joining CesiumAstro’s latest round, MESH further strengthens ties between Taiwan’s rapidly growing space sector and leading international players. CesiumAstro has already established a presence in Taiwan, with recent awards from the Taiwan Space Agency for national LEO satellite programs and a focus on supporting new experimental missions in the region.
The new investment will enable CesiumAstro to consolidate its design, manufacturing, and testing operations in Austin, Texas, with the new headquarters slated to open in 2027 and expected to generate more than 500 skilled jobs. CesiumAstro is ramping up production of its fully integrated Element satellite and expanding its global team to deliver advanced communications solutions for commercial and government customers.
CEO Shey Sabripour says, “Our technology is moving from breakthrough innovation to becoming the backbone of modern industry. This funding allows us to deliver resilient, AI-driven communications at scale for missions worldwide.”
With support from MESH and its other international backers, CesiumAstro is well positioned to drive collaboration between the U.S., Taiwan, and other key space markets. About 75 percent of CesiumAstro’s current business comes from defense and government contracts, but the company expects commercial applications—including connected vehicles and satellite internet—to become an increasingly large part of its business by 2030.
As CesiumAstro moves into this next phase of growth, it continues to serve as a bridge for technology and talent between North America, Asia, and beyond.
